Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is actively preparing for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Doncic has been practicing frequently with Ilirija, a team in Slovenia.

Stein reported, “I think his training camp has already begun… He has been practicing often recently with Ilirija, which is a team in Slovenia. His father, Saša, is the GM… he’s been going through some full practice sessions…”

This preparation comes off the heels of a remarkable 2023-24 season for the Slovenian guard.

Doncic’s previous season featured several standout performances. On October 25, 2023, he recorded a triple-double with 33 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists against the San Antonio Spurs. This game marked a significant milestone as he became the first player in Mavericks history to achieve a 30-point triple-double in a season opener.

A few days later, Doncic had an impressive outing against the Brooklyn Nets. He scored 49 points, including a career-high nine three-pointers, alongside 10 rebounds and seven assists.

In another highlight, Doncic delivered a remarkable 44-point game against the Los Angeles Clippers on November 10, shooting 17-of-21 from the field. He continued his record-breaking season with a historic performance on December 6, where he recorded the 60th triple-double of his career with 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in a win over the Utah Jazz.

His impressive stats don’t stop there. Doncic also achieved milestones such as becoming the second-fastest player in NBA history to reach 1,000 career three-pointers and the youngest player to do so. His scoring ability was further evidenced when he scored 50 points on Christmas Day against the Phoenix Suns, reaching the 10,000 career points mark.

His accolades continued to pile up as he was named a Western Conference starter for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game. Doncic became the fourth player in league history to score 72 or more points in a single game, achieving a career-high 73 points against the Atlanta Hawks. He shot 25-of-33 from the field, setting a new franchise record.

During the playoffs, Doncic maintained his high level of performance. He registered six playoff triple-doubles, leading the Mavericks to the Western Conference Finals. He delivered a game-winning three-pointer in Game 2 of the conference finals, demonstrating his clutch ability.

Despite the Mavericks ultimately falling to the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals, Doncic’s performance was a bright spot. He finished the postseason as the leader in total points, rebounds, and assists. His all-around game solidified his status as one of the premier players in the league.
