Boston Celtics veteran Al Horford fully trusts Joe Mazzulla’s unique/different kind of coaching style.
(via CLNS Media):
Reporter: “Joe pulls out all kinds of crazy things to try to make his point, bring the ball back to whatever. When you guys see him pulling out different things, what’s your reaction to some of the unique things?”
Horford: “Honestly, it’s just keeping an open mind. For me, it’s just Joe. There’s a lot of new concepts, a lot of new things are being thrown around. And what I’ve learned, this is gonna be my third season with Joe, is trusting him and we’re all just kinda seeing where it goes. I feel like it usually pays off for us, so I’m trusting whatever he tells us to do.”
Reporter: “It sounds like there’s a little bit of skepticism at the beginning. You’re like, ‘OK, what’s this?’ But you eventually get to it at some point.”
Horford: “Nah, not really. I think at this point, we’ve known long enough that he is different. But I think that we know that if we want to keep getting better, we have to be able to be different, to have different things, and that’s something that he always emphasizes.”
