Chelsea loanee Joao Felix has been criticised for his latest performance for Italian side AC Milan, with him being branded ‘the worst on the field’ by the Italian press.

The forward joined the Serie A side on loan in the January transfer window. Since completing that move, he has started the last four league games, as well as scoring in the Italian Cup quarter-final win over Roma.

His latest appearance came in the 2-1 loss against Bologna, the side’s second league loss in a row. Santiago Castro scored in the 48th minute for Bologna, before Rafael Leao equalised for Milan before half-time. But Dan Ndoye scored the winner with eight minutes left to play.

The result leaves Milan in eighth place in the Serie A table, 17 points behind leaders Inter, and four points adrift of sixth position.

Felix has been slammed for his performance against Bologna, where he played 61 minutes. In their player ratings, Italian outlet Corriere della Sera gave Felix a rating of 4.5 out of 10 and wrote: “The worst on the field. You can’t see him, you can’t hear him. Never a play, even his own player avoid him.”

Before joining Milan on loan Felix made 12 Premier League appearances for Chelsea in the first half of the season. In that time, he managed one goal. He did however score four times in five Europa Conference League appearances for the Blues.

Speaking last month, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca gave a clear answer when asked if he regrets letting Felix go in the January window. “I don’t think we miss Joao. Joao is happy there and we are happy Joao is happy there,” he said .

“The only thing I can say is no-one would predict on deadline day we had two strikers injured. This is something that is difficult to think. It unfortunately happened but we have Nico [Jackson] to be back very soon.”
